SKY Coppers viewers were left fuming after 'pointless' drone warfare on the Channel 4 police doc that some branded a 'waste of time'.

The programme goes behind the scenes with the West Midlands Police Drone Unit as they seek out criminals from the sky.

But watchers have been hitting out the show and saying that the drones are essentially useless as hardly any of the criminals that are spotted get caught.

Others slammed the electronic devices for how difficult they are to operate.

Taking to Twitter, one person wrote sarcastically: "On behalf of police drone operators we would appreciate if you crims stood still, didn't hide inside buildings and would really appreciate if you went into a field at night so we can use our thermal camera. Cheers."

Another viewer joked: "And not use adjacent buildings for escape!"

A third complained: "So, a total of nine jobs and one criminal caught using a drone.

"A success rate of 11 per cent. Please explain to me the point of this programme."

Someone else agreed: "Just watched Sky Coppers, they caught one person out of about seven, every operation looked like a waste of time."

A fellow watcher moaned: "Same old story, most people caught in the episode get let off."

In a previous episode the show featured the hunt for a man who had assaulted an officer and dragged them along with his car before escaping.

Sergeant Keith Bennet and PC Chris Turton searched for a motorbike thief hiding in a wood in the dead of night.

But the situations featured on the show left many Channel 4 viewers underwhelmed.

Sky Coppers airs Wednesdays at 9pm on Channel 4.
