Kevin Harvick (born Kevin Michael Harvick on December 8, 1975 in Bakersfield, California) is an American professional stock car racing driver. Like many NASCAR drivers, Kevin began his career by racing karts at an early age. He was a go-kart national champion, willing two Grand National championships before moving up to the NASCAR Featherlite Southwest Series while he was still in high school. He dropped out of Bakersfield College to race professionally. He made his NASCAR debut in 1995, racing in the then-Craftsman Truck Series. Thus began a career that lasted more than two decades and resulted in numerous championships: the 2014 Sprint Cup Series Championship, the Busch Series title in 2001 and 2006, the 1998 Winston West Series Title, the 2007 Daytona 500, the 2003 Brickyard 400, and the Coca-Cola 600 in both 2011 and 2013. He won the NASCAR Rookie of the Year for both the then-Winston Cup and Busch Series in 2001 and 2000. In 2015, he won the ESPY Award for Best Driver. He holds the all-time record for Cup Series wins at Phoenix International Raceway, with 8. He’s also the third winningest driver in the Xfinity Series with 48 victories under his belt.

Kevin is a big New York Yankees and Philadelphia Flyers fan. He married DeLana Linville in 2001. They welcomed son Keelan in 2012. His nickname is “Happy Harvick,” an ironic moniker due to his occasional temper tantrums. He was original called the “Bakersfield Basher” due to his aggressive driving style. In 2010, he and his wife established the Kevin Harvick Foundation to improve the quality of life for underprivileged youth throughout the United States. He also established the Kevin Harvick Athletic Scholarship Fund at California State University.
